Mental Health

Good mental health is a sense of wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem. It enables us to fully enjoy and appreciate other people, day-to-day life and our environment.

Being mentally healthy is a very important part of your health. Imbalances in brain neurotransmitters can cause symptoms such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, irritability, tiredness, sadness, loss of motivation, anger, addictive behaviour, aggression, sugar or alcohol cravings, and many more.

Mental illness such as ADHD, Autism, Alzheimer’s, Clinical Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Dementia, Sleep Disorders and other psychological conditions are examined from a biochemical perspective, the causes are explored, and treated based on individual situations. Heavy metals, toxic overload, nutritional deficiency, allergies, gut infection, inflammation, and a history of stress can all be triggers.

There are a number of brain neurotransmitters, including serotonin and dopamine, all of which need to be in balance for you to feel happy, calm and content. These brain neurotransmitters can become imbalanced when we go through a stressful time, if we are nutritionally deficient such as continually eating a poor diet, or if we have a continual stress affecting us on a daily basis. Depending on the case, these imbalances can be corrected using neurotherapy, nutritional therapy, detoxification, kinesiology and counselling if necessary.

Neurotherapy

Neurotherapy is a brainwave training therapy where we can literally retrain the brain to produce healthy brainwave patterns. Whether the problem stems from ADD/ADHD, Autism, a learning disability, a stroke, head injury, deficits following neurosurgery, uncontrolled epilepsy, cognitive dysfunction associated with aging, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or other brain-related conditions, Neurotherapy training offers additional opportunities for rehabilitation through directly retraining the brain.

The exciting thing is that even when a problem is biological in nature, we now have another treatment alternative that is medication free. Neurotherapy is also being used increasingly to facilitate peak performance in “normal” individuals and athletes.

Combining the broad range of testing available at Advanced Wellness & Behavioural Centre such as the QEEG, the T.O.V.A, the EIS, and pathology, we are able to get an accurate picture of what is going on in the brain to give you the best treatment available for mental health issues. This testing regime leaves nothing to the imagination and completely rules out guesswork, giving us a head start on treatment without wasting time and money trying unnecessary treatments first.
